Facts and figures that the diversification drive of the federal government is on course will be manifested in Ogun State and neighbouring states as the government flags off sales of over 10 million tones of Ofada Rice this week.
Business Hilights gathered that the state took to mass production of the product in line with the economic diversification of the federal government which states across the federation had been encouraged to adopt as a way of growing Internally Generated Revenues (IGR).
Government averred that the MITROS Ofada Rice, which is being grown, milled and bagged in the state, is aimed at ending scarcity and smuggling of the commodity in the state and Nigeria in general.
Leading top officials of the State Executive Council on inspection tour of the production factory at Sawonjo, Iju Local Council Development Area in Ogun West Senatorial district of the state, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, said the volume of production on ground is unprecedented and worth celebrating.
According to him, the state will deepen the Rice production going forward by way of building two more production factories in Asero, Abeokuta, in Ogun Central Senatorial District and Ijebu North East in Ogun East Senatorial district.
It would be recalled that Lagos and Kebbi State had partnered to invest in Lake Rice which hit the market last year and had since been on sale as production remains ready in Kebbi while Lagos provides the financial logistics.
