Nigerians thumb up for Buhari over return of Nigerians stranded in Libya, but…
Since this week, contrary to the usual official delays in carrying out presidential orders, the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari while at AU summit in Abidjan last week seemed to be effective. Between Monday and Wednesday, over 254 Nigerian men and women have been brought back via federal government arrangement.
Many Nigerians who spoke to our Correspondents in parts of the country hailed the level of the implementation, but called for proper profiling and empowerment of returnees so that they may not become hopeless which according to many of them, had caused their deadly journey to north Africa in the first instance.
Besides, what is now of great concern is the revelation of a security consultant who pleaded anonymity, but called for strategic management of the returnees so that they may not regroup and rely on their terror experience while suffering in Libya to form a terror group against Nigeria and Nigerians in the nearest future.
The expert recalled that “ISIS was a product of Guantanamo Bay exchanged inmates with US kidnapped soldiers under former President Barrack Obama administration that is terrorizing the world and Middle East today”.
“Young men that just returned from a traumatized environment have the tendencies to form a bad gang that can unleash mayhem on the society. If this is allowed to happen, such deadly body can be worse than Boko Haram.
Business Hilights recalls that the Federal Government on Monday disclosed that 3000 Nigerians have so far been repatriated from Libya in recent time.
Charge d’Affaires of Nigeria in Libya, Illiya Danladi Fachano, said this while addressing the Charles Oputa, alias Charly Boy-led group, OurMumuDonDo, who converged at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, to urge the government to act quickly in order to save the lives of Nigerians trapped in Libya.
As at Wednesday evening more returnees are still arriving lagos and are profiled.
