Nigerian business community morns Kano Businessman, Rabi’u who died at 90

The Nigerian and mainly Kano business community are now morning the passing away of renowned Kano-based businessman and Islamic Scholar, Sheik Isiyaku Rabi’u, who died at the age of 90 years.

Rabi’u died at a Hospital in London after a protracted illness.

One of deceased’s sons, Alhaji Rabiu Isiyaku Rabi’u, confirmed the death to newsmen in a telephone interview from London, saying his father left behind four wives, 42 children and many grand children as well as great grand children.

According to him, the remains of late Rabi’u arrived Nigeria from London for burial on Wednesday.

  1. Rabiu was born on October 9, 1928 into the family of Muhammadu Rabiu Dan Tinki in Bichi, Kano State.
  2. His father was an Islamic scholar who ran his own quranic school.
  3. He established his holding company, Isyaku Rabiu & Sons in 1952.
  4. His company started off trading in sewing machines, religious books and bicycles; and, later, textiles.
  5. As at the time of his death, Isyaku Rabiu & Sons had a history of investment in manufacturing, insurance, banking and real estate.
