NCS to set National Digital Inclusion Agenda at upcoming Ibadan summit—President

The President of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Prof Adesola Aderounmu has disclosed that the pioneer professional association in Nigeria’s ICT sector will use the planned 27th national conference to draw a fresh roadmap that will lead to the emergence of new National Digital Inclusion Agenda.

Addressing media executives in Lagos recently, he said the 27th National Conference which will be held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, will see the convergence of industry heavyweights and government policy makers.

Business Hilights recalls that NCS is the umbrella body of all IT professionals and organizations in Nigeria, with more than 20,000 members and major interest groups (ISPON, ITAN, ISPAN, NiWIIT, ITSSP, AITP, NITPCS). Also inclusive of one hundred thousand Student body (NACOSS)

Explaining more, Prof Aderounmu said “The multi-stakeholder forum will highlight challenges, opportunities and strategies. Networking avenues will be provided to share innovative ideas and research possibilities, examine existing interventions and create new initiatives and practical projects”.

“The conference comprises plenary, parallel and technical sessions, networking meetings, panel discussions and special focus forums. Specifically highlights include: Plenary and Parallel Sessions, Technical Sessions, Seminars, Research Consortium, Induction of New Members, Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Platform, Exhibition and Products Launch, Social Media Masterclass, Mentor-Mentee forum, NITDA session, National IT Competitions, Fellows’ Forum and Annual General Meeting.

He revealed that “A most exciting feature and highlight at this year’s conference is the NCS President Award for Distinguished personalities in IT industry with outstanding Contribution to the growth of IT in Nigeria. Notable dignitaries to be honoured and recognized include Governor of Oyo State – Senator Abiola Ajimobi and His wife Mrs Florence Ajimobi; and Governor of Gombe State, Dr. Ibrahim Hasan Dankwambo.

Aderounmu averred that “As the largest annual gathering of leading IT professionals and stakeholders with national and international participation, attendee benefits include unique opportunities for self development, networking, collaboration, recognition and advocacy.  It is hard to find any forum that will provide you with the unique one-to-one interaction and networking experiences at NCS conferences”.

Explaining more on the Ibadan summit which comes up from July 17 to 19 at the University of Ibadan, the chairman, Conferences Committee at NCS, Mr. Jide Awe noted that global trending issues such as “Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Fintech, Financial Inclusion, eGovernment, Broadband, Disruptive Technologies, Fourth Industrial Revolution and e-Voting will be covered as they relate to the conference theme”.
