Today, Tuesday, January 16, 2018, the telecoms regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will meet with industry stakeholders to review and determine the cost based pricing for Retail Broadband and Data Services in Nigeria.
The forum, slated for Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) Cappa, Oshodi, Lagos is part of the Commission’s engagement with industry players and stakeholders with a view to getting their inputs before arriving at any major regulation and guidelines for the sector.
Business Hilights recalls that there had been plans to carry out the consultative forum before the end of last year, but was shifted due to logistics.
Already, a consultant had been appointed to carry out a study on cost based pricing and will unveil its preliminary findings to stakeholders at the forum.
However, industry observers had been expressing worry over what they described as very slow approach to issues bordering on broadband infrastructure delivery in Nigeria as several policy actions including nationwide licencing of InfraCos, resolution of hurdles on Right of Ways and multiple taxation crisis rocking the industry.
