A scenario that tends to mean that the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, MUST VISIT a troubled spot before the needful will be done, is gradually playing out in the country.
The trend seems to have started from his visit to Niger Delta. It is now clear that since the Vice President toured the flashpoints’ of violence in Niger Delta, relative peace has started emerging which has afforded Nigeria to seriously improve in oil output.
Besides, the formally controversial Maritime University has started being a reality in Gbaramatu Kingdom.
One of the high points in this emerging trend include the look of things at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where serious refurbishment works all of a sudden started and are peaking up.
The development is coming after Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo visited the airport some weeks ago as acting president and complained about the state of its facilities.
Even though the agency in charge, the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) was quick to claim that prior to the Vice President’s visit, there were plans to prepare the airport for certification by the International Civil Aviation Organisation before the end of the year, observers and regular users of the airport say the refurbishment works stemmed from the recent visit and some comments put across by the number two citizen, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
However, in the vein, stakeholders in the nations shipping industry has therefore called on the Vice president to visit the Apapa and Tin Can island ports so that the needed repair works on the ports access roads can start because the roads are currently impassible.
