The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu has announced that federal government will next two months launch e-governance, a platform to support and simplify governance for government, citizens and businesses.

Speaking in Lagos, he said the scheme also known as G2G, is meant to create the right policy and institutional frameworks, and to maximise the effectiveness of ICT initiatives within government, while also integrating organisational silos and deliver citizen services through common channels.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sunny Echono, he said: “In our sphere, we need to take the lead in communication by leveraging on ICT”.

“To achieve this, we will need the support of the civil societies, corporate bodies and Nigerians by encouraging the ICT ecosystem to share best practices and sustainable policies. Furthermore, to ensure our primary goal of broadband will be achieved in the shortest time, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) along with Nigeria Communication Satellite (NigComSat), as we are on the threshold to launch the e-governance in two months.
