President of former Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), Ifeyinwa Obi is dead.
Obi reportedly died in the early hours of this morning (Monday, 10/04/17) at her residence after battling an undisclosed illness.
Obi who is the first female President of MARAN is the third maritime reporter to have died within two months.
Until her death, Obi was a maritime correspondent with Vanguard newspapers.
She is survived by four children.
She had a twins birth about one year ago.
MARAN was one of the federating unions that recently merged on the proposition of National leadership of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) to give birth to a mega central maritime reporters’ body which is yet to conduct election, but has a new NUJ Chapel under the chairmanship of Mr. George Umunnakwe.
