Majority of whistle blowers who sent in 2,500 tips declining rewards—Minister
Indications have emerged that majority of Nigerians sending in tips via whistle blowing policy of the federal government are not even interested in receiving the 2.5 per cent of the tipped loots on recovery.
The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeousn who dropped the hint shortly after revealing that the ministry which is in charge of the policy has received 2,500 tips from whistle-blowers.
According to her, the whistle-blowers have generally indicated that they are not much interested in the rewards as many of them indicated that they only volunteered information as a patriotic Nigerians who saw that the policy in what is needed in the country now.
She also revealed that the government has blocked various financial leakages in several ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) but was silent on why several revenue generating agencies failed to present their budget estimates in the 2017 budget season.
Already, the Senate had passed a resolution that all MDAs who had not presented and defended their 2017 budget estimates do so in not more than two weeks or face sanctions.
At plenary on Wednesday, some of the listed agencies include the CBN, NNPC, Customs and about 32 others.
