Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) joined her counterparts in the State to mark this year’s Service Charter Week, an annual event that encourages efficient service delivery among the Lagos State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government.

The programme which had the theme, “Service Charter: Promoting Seamless Access To Government Services” was held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, with various agencies and functionaries of the State Government attending to questions directly to the public in respect of their various agencies.

In his opening remarks, the General Manager, Mr. Segun Adeniji, said “waste management in Lagos State has come a long way with series of reforms adopted to ensure efficient service delivery by waste managers in the State, stating that government in a bid to improve service delivery and total compliance to best international practices in the waste management sector introduced the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI), which will take effect in September 2017”.

“As part of events marking this year’s Service Charter Week, LAWMA was chosen by Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) as the best Agency of government in service delivery amongst 14 other agencies which led to LAWMA being showcased through a roadshow across the Lagos metropolis to sensitise residents on the need to properly manage their waste and lodge their complaints appropriately.

“The residents were further informed on the new Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI) which was launched by the State Government to give facelift to the environment in the state and were urged to cooperate with the initiative to ensure a successful implementation. The roadshow afforded the residents a rare opportunity to ask on-the-spot questions and get clarifications on issues affecting their environment,” Adeniji said.
