Kano Customs generates over N1.054bn in January

The Kano zonal Command of the Nigeria Custom service (NCS) generated over N1, 054,658,315.48 in the month of January.

The Kano, Jigawa Command Controller of the Customs, Abutu Matthias Onojo, told newsmen in Kano at the weekend that the breakthrough of making the first of it kind revenue generation was as a result of zeal, courage and prudent management adopted by staff of the command.

Onoja noted that because of the trustworthiness shown by the staff in revenue collection, the management of the command has honoured the officers with different awards.

According to him, some of the officers honoured, include Comptroller Gambo, officer in charge of clearance audit who was clinched the Exemplary Leadership Award, Assistant Comptroller in charge of Jigawa out station, earned an awarded for his concerted effort in suppression of smuggling, and three others for various efforts in making the remarkable revenue generation.

The comptroller commended the CGC Hameed Ali for his exemplary leadership in steering the Custom to the point of honor and respect.

In the same vein the Kano command made seizures worth over N18.8 million in the last month of January 2017.

Comptroller Abutu noted the command seized 27 different contraband goods that include rice, second hand clothes and imported vegetable oil among others.
