More prominent Imo sons and daughters have continued to react to the Tuesday’s declaration of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Emeka Ihedioha as the Governor-Elect of Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Accordingly, the chairman, Igbo Traditional Rulers Forum and Chancellor, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, HRM, Eze (Dr.) Cletus Ilomuanya, has given an assurance that Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha’s emergence as Governor of Imo State will restore the People’s confidence in the leadership of the State.
In his reaction, Eze Ilomuanya averred that with Ihedioha’s Victory, “Imo will certainly witness a new lease of life because of the credibility and selfless nature of the in-coming governor.”
The Obi of Obinugwu Kingdom in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, who spoke while congratulating Ihedioha on his election as the next governor of Imo State, noted that “Civil servants, pensioners, business men and women, artisans and even the traditional institution, have reasons to thank God that Ihedioha is now coming on board as governor”.
“The massive jubilation which preceded his formal declaration on Monday night was an eloquent testimony that Imo people earnestly seek Ihedioha’s administration.”
In his further submission, the digital monarch stressed that “Ndimo and Nigerians in general are in dire need of an administrator of Ihedioha’s pedigree, saying he has been “tested and trusted”. He argued that Ihedioha is exactly what Imo needs now to recover and rebuild her, pointing out that restoring Imo to her lost glory requires a person of sound mind and intellect like Ihedioha, who will place public interest above self.
“I have known Ihedioha for years. He is consistent, has the capacity and experience to fix Imo back. Our joy in Imo knows no bounds. I can vouch for his ability to transform the State,” Eze Ilomuanya posited.
In a terse statement signed by the monarch’s media consultant, Mr Kennedy Eweama, the monarch assured the in-coming governor of the maximum support of the traditional institution in Imo State, stressing that he is optimistic that Ihedioha would assist in positively re-positioning the institution. “Everybody is aware of what is going on in our traditional institution today. Happily, Ihedioha being a true Igbo son, knows what to do” he said.
