…Deepens investments to $10m in one year
Barely one year after commissioning its vehicle assembly plant in Nigeria, leading Indian automotive manufacturing companies in the world, Tata Motors weekend, rolled out the 200th locally assembled vehicles in Nigeria.
The feat, according to the group is to provide cost effective vehicles to Nigerian market.
Business Hilights recalls that Tata Motors, which ranked the fourth largest automotive manufacturing company in the world, started its operation in Nigeria in 2006 as the Distribution Arm, Catering to the Sales, Service and Spares of all Commercial Vehicles from TATA Motors.
In his remarks at the unveiling, Auto Head, TML Business, Tata Nigeria, Mr. Suraj Prakash said that they have enjoyed the support of the national assembly since they began local assembly in 2017.
He argued that Tata Motors has a strong presence in Nigeria with investments exceeding USD 10 million, adding that Nigeria serves as a hub for its operations in Nigeria and the rest of West Africa.
Explaining more, Prakash noted that their aim at Tata Motors is to provide quality vehicles to its consumers, ensure customer satisfaction, conservation of resources and protection of the environment.
In his speech, Country Head, Tata Motors Limited, Nigeria & Congo, Mr. Anup Desai, disclosed that Tata Motors has always been value-driven, stressing that these values have continue to direct growth in their business.
On the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy, Desai recalled that for every dollar earned by Tata Group, 66 cents goes back to the host community for social investment.
Earlier in his goodwill message, the Director, Industrial Infrastructure, National Automotive Design and Development Council, Mr Waheed Odetoro, said that government would continue to give adequate support to the local car manufacturers in the country through patronages as directed by the Bureau of Public Procurement.
