‘Ibom Deep Seaport investor, Bolloré-PowerChina Consortium to deliver before June’

Before the end of May, 2019, the massive Ibom Deep Seaport complex will be ready for shipping activities.

This is coming from the Akwa Ibom state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, who has pledged to complete the project before the end of his first tenure come May 29 next year.

Speaking through his Commissioner of Special Duties and Aviation Development, Mr. Akan Okon, in Uyo, the Governor averred that the emergence of global operator, Bolloré-PowerChina Consortium, as the preferred bidder for the project located in the Mbo Local Government Area of the Governor added that the multi-million dollar project would drive the wheels of the economic development of the state and Nigeria when completed and create employment to teeming unemployed youths in the country.

In an interview, he said “I want to assure all Akwa Ibomites that the Ibom deep seaport project is realisable, in fact, we are committed to ensuring that the project is completed before May, 29 next year.  We are working towards this already and we remain committed to it.

“The emergence of the Bolloré–PowerChina Consortium is a happy development for us and I want to appreciate all the Federal Government agencies for their support and cooperation so far.”

Akwa Ibom State government noted that the next stage would involve negotiations with Bolloré-PowerChina Consortium on operational modalities.
