GOtv subscribers’ decries momentary seizure of channels, recharge card extortion
Several GOtv subscribers’ in parts of the country and Lagos State in particular have lamented what they described as momentary disappearance of choice channels from the signal receiver without any form of refund from the service provider.
Many of the subscribers say in one week, access to complete channels is not up to three days and several complains are not attended to, rather contacted dealers give network challenge as reason.
Apart from the missing of channels after search, they said since the sudden hike of recharge tariff for each bouquets by N100, that is from N1,800 to N1,900 in May, dealers charge extra N100 without any clear explanation.
On whether they access the services of the GOtv ‘Sabiman’, a new creation of the service provider to solve issues for subscribers from street to street, many of the subscribers say Sabiman does not exist, but only on TV.
Addressing the media recently during a briefing to explain activities, the General Manager, Marketing and Sales, Martin Mabutho, skipped most issues affecting subscribers and said that GOtv received immense positive feedback in the previous year owing to its top quality content offered to subscribers at affordable prices.
In his response, Akinola Salu, general manager, GOtv said that they looked forward to an even better year, as more channels will be launched and innovations that will wow subscribers will be introduced soon.
He said “2017 is going to be a very interesting year. Expect to see the same digital quality and great content. As a way of rewarding our subscribers for their loyalty, we introduced an incentive programme in March called GOtv WOW. All customers on GOtv Plus and GOtv Value, who stay continuously connected for three months and more, will have uninterrupted access to two extra channels and monthly airtime bonuses at no extra cost”.
“With this, we are demonstrating our leadership role in widening access to pay-Television services and support the government drive on digital migration,” he said.
