Random checks by Business Hilights Intelligence Unit (BHIU) in parts of Lagos, Abuja and Kano on the Luxury and other bus transport fare plying inter-state routes have shown neck-cutting hike in fares.
Most hit are travelers facing eastern parts of the country from Lagos, Abuja and Kano states.
Whereas fares for eastern routes are on a daily rise, as at Sunday checks show that the least fare charged per passenger heading to East is between N12,000 and N15,000.
Also, those going to east from Abuja are forced to either between N13,000 and N17,000 on road or go back to their house in Abuja and celebrate their Christmas.
Also, travelers moving to other parts of western Nigeria from Lagos face minimal fare hike as investigations show that whereas there is only about 15 to 20 per cent rise, those moving down east are forced to cough out over 250 to 300 per cent.
Further checks show that there is no traffic towards northern Nigeria during this season.
