Dangote Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Dangote has donated money and equipment worth over N50m to victims of the March 8 clash between Hausa and Yoruba persons in Ile-Ife.

Managing Director of the Foundation, Mrs. Suera Yusuf, who represented Aliko Dangote during the handover of the cheque and other materials at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi in Ile-Ife, said the gesture was part of the company’s contribution to peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians in the area.

Details show that the beneficiaries are drawn from Hausa and Yoruba communities, who suffered losses during the clash.

The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, who was at the presentation of the cheques said he called Dangote to assist the victims after he and the Ooni visited the scene of the clash to assess the level of destruction.

Accordingly, the monarchs appealed to other wealthy Nigerians to use their wealth to alleviate the suffering of the majority of the people, who were poor.
