Contrary to fears that the recent withdrawal of interest by a leading prospective investors, PIL Shipping in the planned refloating of new Nigerian National Shipping Line (NNSL), the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Barr. Hassan Bello has assured that the committee is on course and will deliver on its mandate.

Business Hilights recalls that the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, had some months ago, set up a steering committee and charged it to work out modalities with prospective investors to float a new national shipping company.

Bello, who expressed optimism, assured that expression of interests’ option is still open to bidders.

Besides, he revealed that the drag net of the Committee has been extended to other Stakeholders including Banks, Insurance Companies, Flag Administration, Nautical Colleges, and others.

NSC boss noted that PIL Shipping was not the best choice, stressing that there were still other options.
