After three days in kidnapper dean, the wife of the Central Bank Governor, Margaret Emefiele, has been released by her abductors. It was not clear if any ransom was paid even though the adoptors had called on the CBN governor shortly after the adoption.

She was released alongside three women and a driver that were abducted on Thursday along Benin-Agbor Road.

Details from the rescue team show she and others were released at 1.30am on Saturday, according to a source who was involved in the rescue operation.

The source said that Margaret is presently at the Police headquarter, Benin, awaiting her husband, Godwin Emefiele.

It would be recalled that whereas her husband and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele is in Abuja working round the clock on way out of the current recession of the economy, the kidnappers who abducted Mrs. Margaret Emefiele, were reportedly demanded N1.5billion for her release.

Sources with knowledge of the matter say Mrs. Emefiele was abducted on Thursday along the Benin-Agbor Road in Edo State. Mrs. Emefiele was on her way to her community in Delta State. Her captors have reportedly been in communication with the CBN Governor.

Before the release, unconfirmed sources say when the police were confronted with the superior firepower of the kidnappers they reportedly ran away, leaving her and the other victims in the hands of the criminals.

Available details indicate that in addition to Mrs. Emefiele, four other people were abducted including two other females, a male, and her driver.

By status, Mrs. Emefiele had a four-man police detail attached to her.

But in swift, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris has deployed a Special Force Unit and an Intelligence Response Team to comb Edo and Delta States for her release and freedom of others kidnapped with her.
