Breaking: Buhari Junior, Yusuf undergoes surgery at well equipped private clinic
‘Change Begins With Me’ failed to play out at the multibillion naira Aso Rock Clinic on Wednesday as Buhari’s elder son, Yusuf Buhari, underwent limb corrective surgery at a distant private Clinic in Abuja (Cadercrest Hospital) after a Bike accident within the Gwarimpa area in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buahri’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a terse statement issued in Abuja confirmed that Yusuf, who had the accident on Tuesday night, broke a limb and had an injury on the head as a result of the incident.
According to him, “He has undergone surgery at a clinic in Abuja. He is in a stable condition”.
“The President and his wife, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, are thankful to Nigerians for the good wishes and prayers for their son,” Shehu averred.
A family source who preferred anonymity disclosed that “Yusuf was trying to overtake his friend when he suddenly veered off the road and skidded. He lay there unconscious for a while before the first lady was alerted.”
The source further cleared the rumour making the rounds that he has been flown to Germany over the head injury, saying he is in good condition at the Cadercrest Hospital and there is no plan to fly him abroad for now.
It would be recalled that Mrs. Buhari had some months ago, raised alarm on the poor state and lack of necessary facilities at the Aso Rock Clinic meant to serve the presidency and allied workers.
Business Hilights recalls that shortly after her revelation on the embarrassing state of the Clinic, a top official of the Ministry of health confirmed that over the years, budgetary allocations for the Clinic are fraught with issues, thus vindicating the earlier position of the wife of the President.
This may be the reason why the surgery failed to take place at the Aso Rock Villa after all.
