Automate office systems to end corruption; quicken ease of doing business–Expert
Cyber security expert, Mr. Joseph Oladele has called on the Federal Government to simply automate all aspects of its relations with the public which currently involves personal contacts so as to tame the disturbing surge in bribery and corruption.
In an exclusive interview, he said “Automation of systems that makes people get in contact during service delivery will cut off personal contact in accessing government services and in the process limit chances of asking for kickbacks and official frustration to give or take bribes”.
“If all points of critical service involving government agencies are automated, it will be hard for a service seeker to come with kickbacks’ knowing full well that throughout his transactions and documentations, he will have no contact with any staff.
“For example, if you are going to any agency to apply for a licence or look for contract, all you need to do is login to the portal for the service and fill up the system generated form and send right away. Come back to home or office and relax and begin to pray for early processing instead of either officials pursuing you here and there or you even looking out for such gullible government workers.
Oladele who has been delivering related services to companies and some government agencies said “So far Nigerians continue to stroll lousily along the corridors of government agencies to access one service or the other, bribery and corruption will continue to rear its ugly heads”.
He lauded the ongoing automation of port services by Nigerian Shippers’ Council and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), saying automation is the best way to go especially in freeing ease of doing business in the country.
