Ali had not made any difference in fighting corruption since takeover as Customs CG—Sagay
Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Professor Itse Sagay SAN, has ambushed the Comptroller general of Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), revealing that he has not made any single difference in fighting corruption in the Service since assuming office as the head of the money spinning agency last year.
The constitutional legal luminary who raised salient issues Thursday in his opening remarks at the National Dialogue on Corruption organised by PACAC at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, lamented that corruption in Customs is now digital and encompassing.
The PACAC Chairman said, “There is no difference in Customs since May 29, 2015. If you go to Tin Can Island, it is business as usual.”
He wondered why corruption has remained a national tragedy, queried why a person will loot what he cannot spend in ten lifetimes and in the process exposes others to poverty.
However, he hailed the latest corruption fighting policy of the Ministry of Finance, the whistle-blower policy of the Buhari government, saying the policy will save the country faster if well embraced by all.
