Akwa Ibom youths go diabolical in forcing Exxon Mobil to move head office

In what can be seem as high level warning using diabolism in Africa, protesters from Eket, Esit-Eket, Onna and Ibeno Local Government Areas, the host communities of Exxon Mobil, has placed red coffin laced with new palm fronts at the front gates of the company’s gate. Other traditional warning emblems were also placed alongside the coffins.

The aim is to compel the oil company to heed to presidential directive and humbly relocate its Lagos head office to Akwa Ibom State.

Explaining more on the intent of the action, spokesman of the youths, Mr. Joe Etukudo said “Today is just a warning protest done in a very civilized manner; we will eventually shut down Mobil’s operation both onshore and offshore if, after 14 days, the company does not take us seriously”.

The protesters also decried what they described as partiality in Exxon Mobil’s award of contracts, employment and other jobs to core indigenes of the oil producing communities where it is operating.

However, on Tuesday evening, the objects were cleared by security operatives as the protesting youths have dispersed.
