Contrary to speculations that petroleum products will be scare during the yuletide, indication has emerged that this will be among the smoothest end of the year in terms of petroleum products availability as 27 ships laden with products and food items will begin to call at the Lagos ports.
The vessels are expected to berth at Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports in Lagos from Dec. 21 to Dec. 31, up from 25 expected in Dec 20.
Details gathered from the Nigerian Ports Authority’s (NPA) stated `Shipping Position’, Wednesday in Lagos has revealed.
Additional details show that four of the expected 27 ships would berth with petrol and aviation fuel.
NPA said that the remaining 23 expected ships contained buck wheat, general cargo, base oil, frozen fish, buthane, aviation fuel, bulk charcoal, steel products and containers.
The document noted that four ships had already arrived the ports, waiting to berth with bulk fertiliser, frozen fish, crude palm olein and petrol.
Fifteen other ships are at the ports discharging empty containers, bulk wheat, bulk sugar, bulk gas, crude palm olein, ethanol, frozen fish, ethanol, containers, aviation fuel and petrol.
